Clinical
Laboratory Science is an exciting, high tech, biomedical career that blends
science, medicine and technology.
Clinical Laboratory Professionals at the baccalaureate level consist of Medical Laboratory Scientists, Cytotechnologists and Histotechnologists. Clinical Laboratory Professionals at the associate
level consist
of Medical Laboratory Technicians and
Histotechnicians. Opportunities exist at the post
high school level as Phlebotomists and Laboratory
Assistants.
Clinical Laboratory professionals analyze blood, body fluids, tissues and cells to determine the presence or absence of disease states including cancer, diabetes and infectious agents and monitor drug therapy to ensure patient safety and the effectiveness of treatment.
They are highly skilled in the use of the latest in biomedical techniques and instrumentation.
